Kearney Cruise Nite week is going on right now!
- Today (Wednesday) from 5-7pm is the Classic Car Tour of area assisted living and nursing homes including the Central Nebraska Veterans Home
- Thursday: The Midway-GM store will be hosting a show-n-shine Thursday night from 5-7:30pm
- Friday: The Buffalo County Fairgrounds will host Friday’s show-n-shine from 5-7pm followed by the annual Classic Car Auction
- Saturday: The Downtown show-n-shine in will take place starting at noon Saturday followed by the Cruise Nite Parade at 5pm

Eustis native, Kevan Hueftle is the National Congress of State Games 2020 Adult Male Athlete of the Year. He was a gold medal winner in the men’s 35-to-39 category for the 100 and 200-meter dash at the 2020 Cornhusker State Games. Hueftle, who rose to fame for his efforts as a medal winning Paralympian for Team USA, lost his left foot in a hunting accident and has trained to run with a prosthetic, leading him to gold in the 100-meter dash at the Parapan American Games.
For the third straight year, Yanney Heritage Park will be hosting the Holiday Light Festival. It is scheduled for December 5-12. Organizations interested in participating can contact the Kearney Parks & Rec Department.
Starting next week, Amtrak will again pick up passengers in Holdrege. Amtrak customers are asked to use the city parking lot to the north of the new platform location. Next year Amtrak plans to undergo major improvements to the concrete pad and small building that holds the wheel chair ramp. Tickets can be purchased at Amtrak.com.
