7AM Story: Four Ways to Deal with a Co-Worker You Hate

Is there someone you work with that you totally hate? Well, if it’s a long-standing feud, you might just want to avoid them and keep your head down. Or if they’re really harassing you, you might need to go to your boss.

But if you think it’s a working relationship that’s fixable, here are four steps for handling it yourself . . .

Start with empathy. Be open to the idea that YOU might be part of the problem. But even if it really is all their fault, think about what’s causing it. We’ve all had a stressful year, and things might be going on behind the scenes that you don’t know about.
Decide if you should confront them directly. Some people respond well to it, and some don’t. So before you try to fix anything, figure out how direct you want to be.
Look for things you have in common. Anything, even if it’s just a show you both like. Or try to include them in something, like drinks after work. Sometimes extending an olive branch can turn things around fast.
If it’s a hopeless situation, make friends with everyone else. It’s a lot harder for them to make YOUR life difficult if everyone else at work likes you.

8AM Story 1: A Woman Refused to Return $1.2 Million Accidentally Deposited in Her Account . . . and Quickly Used It to Buy a House

I love this woman’s thought process. Like . . . did she really think that no one would be looking for a MILLION DOLLARS they accidentally misplaced?

33-year-old Kelyn Spadoni of New Orleans checked her Charles Schwab investment account in February . . . and found $1.2 MILLION in there. They’d meant to deposit $82, but gave her $1.2 million by mistake.

Kelyn works at the sheriff’s department, so she probably should’ve known to report it . . . but she didn’t. Instead, she quickly transferred all of the money into a different account and used it to buy a HOUSE and a CAR. The car was a Hyundai Genesis.

Eventually Charles Schwab figured out what happened to the money. But when Kelyn kept dodging them and ignoring their calls and messages, they got the police involved.

Kelyn was arrested last week for theft, bank fraud, and illegal transmission of monetary funds.

A spokesman from the sheriff’s department where she worked says, quote, “She had no legal claim to that money. Even if it was put in there by mistake, it was an accounting error.”

8AM Story 2: IHOP Has a New Waffle with Oreos, Bacon, and Ice Cream on Top

There’s a new item at IHOP. It’s an Oreo and Bacon Waffle Sundae . . . that’s a Belgian waffle filled with Oreo cookies with candied bacon and ice cream on top.

It’s a limited-time product, but that’s fine . . . because after you eat it once, you might die.

8AM Story 3: Busch Is Hiring a Dog for $20,000 to Taste Test Dog Beer

Great, some dog out there is going to have a better job title than a lot of us will.

Busch Beer just announced they want to hire a DOG as their new CTO . . . that’s Chief Tasting Officer . . . to try their non-alcoholic beer for dogs called Dog Brew and be the face of the brand. And the dog will get paid $20,000 for the job.

If you want to get your dog in the running, you can tweet a picture of your dog and their qualifications by the 28th of this month.
