UNK FOOTBALL GEARS UP FOR WINLESS LINCOLN
After fighting through the first seven games of their schedule, as No. 21 UNK is looking for a breather against MIAA bottom dweller Lincoln on Saturday.
The conference-leading Lopers are 6-1 on the year, while Lincoln enters the contest at 0-6. Kickoff is set for 2 PM from Ron and Carol Cope Stadium in Kearney.
UNK does have a daunting matchup with No. 10 Northwest Missouri State looming next week.
HASTINGS COLLEGE ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Broncos of Hastings College travel in back-to-back weeks, last week in a 44-0 loss to Doane and this weekend to Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.
The Broncos are 1-6 on the year heading into the final road contest of the season.
UNK VOLLEYBALL READY FOR HOME WEEKEND
The No. 16 UNK Volleyball team is back to their winning ways after three consecutive wins over conference opponents.
This weekend sees the Lopers return to the Health and Sports Center with a tough Friday night matchup against UCO (15-5) and Newman.
The Bronchos downed UNK in four sets earlier this season. Friday’s first serve against UCO is set for 6 PM and Saturday’s is slated for 6:30 PM.
HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS TAKING PLACE AT KCC
The Kearney Country Club will be hosting the NSAA State Championship Cross Country meet today.
All Classes will be participating in the meet, as it is the final meet of the season for state-wide teams.
Visit nsaahome.org for more information. Running events begin with Class D Girls at noon, followed by Class C girls at 12:30. Class A Girls compete at 3 PM while Class A Boys are at 4 PM.
HUSKER VOLLEYBALL READY FOR TOP TEN SHOWDOWN
The No. 9 Nebraska volleyball team begins a rugged stretch of three straight top-15 opponents this Saturday, Oct. 23 with No. 7 Purdue at the Devaney Center. First serve is set for 8 p.m., and the match will be televised on BTN and on KGFW.
Nebraska has sole possession of first place in the Big Ten standings and is the only remaining unbeaten team at 9-0 in conference play. The Huskers are ahead of second-place Wisconsin (7-1).
Nebraska prepares for a midweek showdown with No. 3 Wisconsin next Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Devaney Center.
STORM READY TO RETURN TO ICE
After a quirk in the schedule, the Tri-City Storm had thirteen days without a game to play. The team returns to action tonight at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA in search of a team record.
A victory in tonight’s road game over the Sioux City Musketeers would give Tri-City six straight wins to begin the 2021-2022 regular season. The last time on the ice, the Storm posted a 3-0 home shutout victory over the Omaha Lancers to tie the organization’s record for the most consecutive wins recorded to begin a regular season.
Following tonight’s road game against the Musketeers, Tri-City returns home to the Viaero Center for a battle against the Sioux Falls Stampede tomorrow night.
DOMANN QUARTERFINALIST FOR LOTT TROPHY
Nebraska senior linebacker JoJo Domann was named one of 20 quarter finalists for the 2021 Lott IMPACT Trophy announced Thursday.
Domann has started six games for the Blackshirts this season, totaling 50 tackles, including eight for losses, as well as 2.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. He has two double-figure tackle games, including a season-high 12 tackles against No. 3 Oklahoma. Domann shared Big Ten Defensive Player-of-the-Week accolades as he had 10 tackles, 3.0 TFLs, 2.0 sacks and two forced fumbles in the win over Northwestern.
The Lott IMPACT Trophy, now in its 18th year, goes to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott by making an IMPACT on and off the field.
ABDULLAH SIGNS WITH PANTHERS
For the past couple of seasons, running back Ameer Abdullah has provided the Minnesota Vikings with solid play as both a kickoff returner and a running back. With the team activating a rookie on Tuesday and releasing him to make room, the Carolina Panthers have brought in the former Husker to sign with the team.

UNK CROSS COUNTRY NATIONAL RANKED, HOSTS MIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Nebraska-Kearney and Kearney Country Club host the 2021 MIAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday
This is the first time Loper cross country has hosted a league championship meet at the NCAA Division Il level. UNK and KCC hosted NCAA Central/North Central Regionals in 2017, 2008 and 1997.
No admission will be charged for the two races. Weather permitting, the women’s 6k starts at 11:30 a.m. with the men running an 8k at 12:15 p.m
The Loper Men are ranked 24th nationally, while the women received votes for the Top 25
HUSKER FOOTBALL TICKETS BUY-ONE, GET-ONE
Nebraska Athletics is giving a new deal to fans for the Halloween contest against Purdue on Oct. 30.
The Huskers are promoting a new “Buy-One, Get-One” ticket package for the matchup with the Boilermakers. The deal only lasts until Friday at 10 AM.

Nebraska tips off its 2021-22 home schedule by playing host to Midland University in an exhibition game at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Monday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
