What was your most stressful age, and why?

NEWS OF THE WEIRD

There’s a website that lets you ask any question about ethics . . . like “ignoring a phone call” . . . and A.I. will provide a judgement.

A guy near Toronto got pulled over on Wednesday for driving while playing a FLUTE with both hands.  They gave him a ticket and told him not to do it again.

A restaurant just opened in Australia called Karen’s Diner, and it’s a play on the Karen meme.  It has “rude staff and poor service” . . . and you can, quote, “complain until the cows come home because we literally don’t care.”

This Week in Science: Vikings, Uranus, and Dogs with ADHD

NERD ALERT!  Here’s a quick rundown of this week in science . . .

1.  A large fireball streaked across the Midwest Tuesday night.  People from Tennessee to Michigan could see it, but it wasn’t a comet.  Experts think it was a Russian SPY satellite that launched last month and fell out of orbit.

2.  In other space news:  NASA posted a futuristic, CGI video about space tourism, showing people kayaking on one of Saturn’s moons . . . A team of astrophysicists think our entire solar system might be encased in a massive cosmic tunnel that’s invisible to the naked eye . . . And scientists who study Uranus say yes, they’re sick of all the jokes.

3.  In health news:  Surgeons in New York took a kidney from a genetically altered pig, put it in a human, and it’s working like it should.  It’s the first time we’ve been able to do that, and could be a huge breakthrough for kidney transplants.

4.  In animal news:  A team in Finland found dogs can have ADHD, just like us.  Male dogs and puppies are more prone to it.  Other risk factors include not exercising, not getting enough attention, and being left home alone a lot.

5.  Archaeologists now believe Vikings landed in North America 200 years earlier than we thought.  They found wooden artifacts in Newfoundland, Canada that date back 1,000 years.  And I mean EXACTLY 1,000 years.  They’re from the year 1021.

A&W Is Selling a “3/9-Pound” Burger, Because Americans Are Bad at Math

Here’s an interesting marketing strategy.  A&W is trying to get more people into their restaurants by INSULTING our intelligence.  (???)

Back in the ’80s, they tried to compete with the McDonald’s Quarter Pounder by selling a THIRD-pound burger for the same price.  But it failed, because people were confused by fractions . . . and thought a quarter pound was BIGGER than a third of a pound.

So now A&W is bringing that burger back, but changing the name.  Instead of a “Third-Pounder,” they’re calling it a ‘THREE-NINTHS” pound burger.

Obviously the whole thing is tongue-in-cheek.  But they’re hoping the bigger numbers will make people understand it’s larger than a Quarter Pounder, not smaller.

Men Who Pose With Dogs on Dating Sites Are More Likely to Want to Settle Down

Are guys who pose with dogs on dating apps actually nice and wholesome?  Or are they just doing it to FOOL you into thinking that’s true?  A new study found that in general, they really ARE more likely to want to settle down.

A psychologist in Canada talked to hundreds of men with dating profiles, and asked if they were looking for something serious, or just a fling.  Then she analyzed their photos.

80% of men who were looking for something serious had at least one picture of a dog, compared to 50% of guys looking for a fling.  So dog photos are popular in general, but having one DOES suggest you’re looking for something more long-term.

She also found that men who just want to hook up are more likely to post shots of themselves on motorcycles, on boats . . . and photos of themselves SHIRTLESS.
