The Perfect Time to Fall Asleep . . . According to Your Heart

A new study has zeroed in on the PERFECT time to fall asleep for your heart . . . and no, it isn’t 1:48 A.M. after three reruns of “Shark Tank”.

Researchers say the sweet spot for falling asleep is between 10:00 and 11:00 P.M.  To come up with this time, they tracked and analyzed data from more than 88,000 adults over six years.

They found there’s a 12% greater risk of cardiovascular disease among people who go to bed between 11:00 to 11:59 P.M. . . . and a 25% higher risk among people who fell asleep midnight or later.

Night owls weren’t the only ones affected.  Falling asleep EARLIER than 10:00 P.M. was associated with a 24% increased risk of heart disease.

Researchers don’t have all the answers for these results, but they suspect that our body’s internal clock . . . its “circadian rhythm” . . . gets disrupted by going to bed either too late or too early.  And that has adverse effects on our heart.

For the record, the study DID take into account things like sleep duration, sleep irregularity, being an early bird or night owl, and other factors . . . and the results STILL said that the best time to go to bed is 10:00 to 11:00.
