Keisei Tominaga and Japan moved one win away from qualifying for the 2024 Olympics with an 86-77 win over Venezuela Thursday morning at the FIBA World Cup.

Tominaga had five points, one rebound and an assist in 14 minutes for Japan, which won its second game in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. It marked the first time since 1967 that the nation has won multiple games at the event.  Japan, which trailed by 13 with 7:30 left, outscored Venezuela 18-3 over the final 3:30 to erase a 74-68 deficit and earn the victory.

Tominaga is averaging 8.8 points per game over five games along with 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest.

Japan can clinch a berth in the Paris Olympics on Saturday when it takes on Cape Verde. Tipoff is at 6:10 a.m. and the game can be watched on ESPN+.
