KEARNEY – The 2023 Heartland Athletic Conference Tournament brackets have been released for both girls and boys basketball action.
The Kearney Boys Basketball team is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, while undefeated Lincoln Southwest is the top seed on the girls side. Grand Island’s girls team is posted at No. 12, while the Islanders Boys are ninth.
The Bearcat girls basketball program is the seventh seed, and will host Lincoln High School in a rematch from earlier in December. That first round contest will take place at Kearney High School at 3:30 PM on Friday, Dec. 22.
Lincoln Southwest will host the semifinals and finals for the boys bracket championships, and Lincoln Pius X is set to host the semifinals and finals for the girls.
First round action for both boys and girls will begin Friday, Dec. 22 with higher seeds hosting. The top four seeds for each bracket receive first round byes, as second round action restarts following the NSAA mandated moratorium on Thursday, Dec. 28. Higher seeds will also host second round contests.
