Hastings College Women's Wrestling 2024 // HC Bronco Athletics

DES MOINTS, IOWA – The Hastings College women’s wrestling team was in action Saturday taking part in the Grand View Open and here are the results.

There were two divisions at the tournament with a gold and silver division.

Larissa Kaz was competing in the gold division at 130 and began her day by defeating Tatiana Garcia of William Penn via an 11-0 tech fall to move to the quarterfinals. From there she moved into the consolation bracket where she defeated Byanca Cook of Avila and Peyton Hand of Ottawa to move into the consolation semifinals. She would drop the next two matches to finish in sixth place.

Tabitha Wood and Reagen Gallaway both competed in the gold division at 143 as Gallaway began her day with back-to-back 10-0 tech fall victories over Yazmine Perez of Waldorf and Makayla Munoz of Oklahoma City to move into the semifinals. There she lost a tough decision to eventual champion Krista Warren of Grand View 6-4. She ended finishing sixth. Wood started out by pinning Naida Abdijanovic of William Penn but would drop her next match to move into the consolation bracket but would not advance any further.

Lisa Hoeflich competed in the gold division at 155 and after losing her first match picked up a pin and advanced due to an injury before bowing out of the tournament.

At 191 in the gold division, Marissa Patterson opened her tournament by defeating Shan Briggs of Avila via pin before losing to eventual champion Tavia Heidelberg-Till of Menlo to move to the consolation. She would pick up a win over Noami Duenas of University of the Cumberlands 6-4 before bowing out of the tournament.

In the silver bracket, Bemnet Tesfa would go 2-2 on the day at 109. Brianna Miller would go 1-2 at 136

At 170, Taylor Rickley began her day with a tight decision over Cierra Abrego of University of the Cumberlands and then defeated Jayla Jones of Quincy 10-9 to advance to the semifinals. There she fell to Abby Piper of William Woods to move into the consolation bracket. She faced off against Abrego again and this time pinned her at the 4:11 mark to move to the consolation final where she would lose and place fourth.

Hastings will be back in action Saturday Feb. 10 taking part in the Midland Warrior Open set to begin at 9:00 am in Fremont, NE.
