GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man was arrested after he allegedly showed up to a wedding intoxicated and threatened to kill the officiant and officers on Saturday, May 25.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers responded at 3:53 p.m. to the Stolley Park Gardens, 2103 W. Stolley Park Road for the report of an intoxicated and out of control male at a wedding.

The officiant of the wedding reported that Nicholas Orona showed up to the wedding intoxicated and threatened to kill him. Guests at the wedding had held Orona down until officers were able to place him in custody.

During the arrest, officers say that Orona threated to kill two of them and sexually assault another.

Orona would fail to comply with commands while getting into the patrol vehicle and getting out at the Hall County Department of Corrections by going limp and acting as dead weight, according to officers.

Orona was arrested for three counts of terroristic threats and one count of obstruction of a peace officer.
