GRAND ISLAND — A shoplifting arrest at a Super Saver location in Grand Island would lead to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in a moving truck on Saturday, July 13.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 11:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Super Saver location on 2nd St. in reference to a shoplifting incident.

While in route, the officers were advised that a female subject had fled the area northbound toward 3rd St. She was later found hiding inside a Penski moving truck in a nearby parking lot.

The woman was identified as Kyra Cabrera of Arizona. She had been observed selecting items from the Super Saver and then passing all points of sale without attempting to pay for the items.

Cabrera would be arrested and transported to the Hall County Department of Corrections. While walking to the jail, officers noticed Cabrera attempted to dispose of nine grams of methamphetamine she had on her person while in the sally port jail area.

Officers also noted that the driver of the Penski moving truck, Richard Moss, had also shoplifted from the Super Saver. He has been observed selecting items from the shelves before passing all points of sale with no attempt to pay.

Due to the drug paraphernalia that had also been located in a purse that Cabrera had while she was in the truck, along with her admission of using the controlled substance; a search of the truck was conducted.

Drug paraphernalia was found behind the driver’s seat where Moss had first been contacted. Moss was arrested for shoplifting, a Class 3 felony, due to his multiple prior theft convictions.

Moss was arrested for shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia and Cabrera was arrested for shoplifting, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance.

Both were booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
