Hits 106 - The Tri-Cities #1 Hit Music Station

Story by Dave Brandt

The Kearney High Varsity softball team traveled to Lincoln for an early season tournament and went 1-2 on the day.  They struggled to hit the ball against Hastings in game 1, losing 8-0.  Game 2 was a close matchup against Lincoln Southeast, with the Bearcats winning 6-4.  And in the final game against Elkhorn South, it was another case of falling behind and not being able to catch back up, losing 10-1.

With the weather canceling the games Thursday in Fremont, the Bearcats have a record of 4-2 after their first week of the season.  Next week brings a trip to Grand Island Northwest on Tuesday, September 3, a home game against Lincoln High on September 5, and then KHS will host their own tournament next weekend, September 7. There will be 4 fields of play all day with large and small schools as well as a separate JV tournament.  Play begins at 8:30 AM.
