Multiple area fire departments on scene of structure fire north of Elm Creek

ELM CREEK — Multiple area fire departments battled a structure fire that occurred north of Elm Creek during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Around 3:30 p.m., Elm Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the 9800 block of 100th Road.

On scene, smoke was emanating from the rear of a house, with flames spreading through the roof toward the front of the house. Firefighters were attacking the fire from the rear of the house and spraying water over the roof to suppress the flames that would occasionally appear.

Mutual aid was provided by the fire departments of Miller, Amherst, Overton and Kearney.

There was no word of injuries or cause on scene, the fire was still in progress at the time of writing with heavy fire being reported in the entryway.
