KEARNEY — A driver suffering a medical issue was determined to be the cause of a vehicle that crashed into the south Scooter’s Coffee location in Kearney on Thursday, Feb. 26.

According to the Kearney Police Department, a white Ford Fusion was eastbound on Talmadge St. when the driver suffered a medical issue, and the car left the road and crashed into the north side of the Scooter’s Coffee location at 114 2nd Ave.

Officers with the Kearney Police Department responded to scene, along with the Nebraska Public Power District, Kearney Volunteer Fire Department and CHI Good Samaritan EMS.

The Fusion was partially entrapped in the side of the building on the drive-thru side. The vehicle would be removed from the side of the building via tow truck, revealing the damage to the side of the building.

The KPD said that the driver was transported to the hospital for the medical episode they suffered but were not injured as a result of the accident.

KPD stated that no one in the building was injured as a result of the accident.
