Kearney High School, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — Kearney High School has adjusted the 2024-2025 academic calendar this April to accommodate construction and ensure smooth operations during an upcoming track event.

There will be an 11:30 dismissal on Friday, April 11, 2025, to accommodate parking for a huge track meet in the middle of construction.

Key Changes:

  • April 11, 2025: There will be an 11:30 dismissal for Kearney High School ONLY. KHS teachers will either have a work day for the remainder of the day or assist with the track meet. Closing school for KHS students will help accommodate parking for the district track meet, as the construction of the south addition will occupy numerous parking spaces.
  • At KHS ONLY, there will be morning transportation only. There will be no after-school service for KHS students. For all other students in elementary and middle school, the buses will run as normal in both the morning and afternoon.
  • There will be a ‘Grab and Go’ lunch provided at Kearney High School.

These changes reflect our commitment to balancing the needs of construction logistics, event management, and academic priorities.
Superintendent Jason Mundorf commented, “We appreciate the flexibility and understanding of our families and staff as we make these necessary adjustments to ensure a successful Kearney High track meet, especially in light of our construction at KHS. This is a terrific meet that brings many people to the Kearney High campus and into our community for patronage as well. We hope the early communication will allow families to adjust their schedules without causing undue stress.”
