GRAND ISLAND – One of three people charged after a drug bust at an Interstate 80 motel near Grand Island was sentenced to 18 months in jail Feb. 11 for felony possession of a controlled substance.
Lacey M. Randall, 35, of Aurora was sentenced by Judge Patrick Lee for the June 3, 2024 incident.
Randall pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance on Dec. 2. Nine other charges against her were dismissed.
Two other defendants in the case are awaiting sentencing.
Austin E. Renschler, 32, of Hastings pleaded guilty Dec. 31 to possession of a controlled substance and theft by receiving stolen property. Hall County District Judge Patrick Lee found him guilty. Eight other charges against him were dismissed. He will be sentenced on Feb. 25.
Jeramy Elrod, 46, of Grand Island pleaded guilty Jan. 21 to delivery of a controlled substance. Nine other charges against him were dismissed. Hall County District Judge Patrick Lee found him guilty. Sentencing will be April 15.
According to a Hall County Sheriff’s Department probable cause statement, law enforcement officers contacted Randall, Elrod, and Renschler at USA Inns at 7501 Highway 281 at the Grand Island Interstate 80 interchange.
Investigators found eight illegal drugs in a motel room. Officers also found a stolen 2006 GMC Sierra pickup, a stolen handgun, and a rifle. A variety of drug paraphernalia was also discovered.
