Hits 106 - The Tri-Cities #1 Hit Music Station

A strong start by Mason McConnaughey and steady production up and down the order propelled No. 23 Nebraska to a 6-1 over Louisiana Friday in Lafayette, La.

McConnaughey rebounded from a bumpy first start to throw six innings, allowing just one earned run and four hits with no walks while striking out six. Jeter Worthley and Pryce Bender threw the final three innings, allowing no runs and just one hit combined to lock down the win.

Seven of the nine Husker starters in the lineup got a hit, led by Cayden Brumbaugh, who was 3-for-4 with an RBI. One of the hitless, Hogan Helligso, drove in two runs.

Nebraska took advantage of shoddy defense by the Ragin’ Cajuns, who committed four errors, resulting in four unearned runs. The Huskers tallied two runs in the first, two more in the fourth and two in the eighth to capture the victory and improve to 3-2 on the season.

Nebraska now prepares for a Saturday doubleheader against Louisiana, in a change from the prior schedule. Sunday’s game was moved to be a part of a Saturday twin-bill to avoid bad weather Sunday in Louisiana. First pitch for the doubleheader will be Saturday at 1 p.m. Pregame coverage will begin on KLIN at 12:30 p.m.
