LINCOLN — Lincoln Police say a deadly domestic disturbance near 84th and Sandalwood Wednesday afternoon was a murder-suicide.

During a briefing Friday morning Police Chief Michon Morrow identified the woman as 21-year-old Michelle Gonzalez.

Morrow says Gonzalez had filed a protection order against her boyfriend, 28-year-old Ibrahim Alhamadani, that morning “And that protection order was issued. Unfortunately, that protection order was never served and we were certainly unable to make an arrest.”

Morrow says it was about two hours or less from when they knew Gonzalez was OK and a safety plan had been created to when the incident happened around 12:30. Police say Gonzales was struck by a vehicle driven by Alhamadani. Two Good Samaritans placed her in their vehicle and took off, but police say Alhamadani chased after them and rammed their car.

Investigators say he then got out and shot Gonzalez several times inside that vehicle. She later died at the hospital. Morrow says Alhamadani then shot and killed himself. She says it remains unclear how the two came into contact prior to the shooting.

Anyone who is experiencing domestic violence is encouraged to reach out to the LPD Victim Assistance Unit for help securing a protection order and to Voices of Hope, Friendship Home and others, for access to safety planning, support services and resources.

The National Domestic Violence hotline is 800-799-7233.
