KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools is pleased to announce that Lynn Stewart, the School Librarian at Meadowlark Elementary, has been selected to serve as the new District Media Director. Stewart will assume this expanded role while continuing her position at Meadowlark.
She steps into the district-wide position following the retirement of Tracy Schall, who previously served as both Glenwood Elementary Principal and the KPS District Media Director.
“Lynn brings an incredible passion for literacy, innovation, and student engagement,” said Superintendent Jason Mundorf. “Her ability to create dynamic media environments, support educators, and connect students with meaningful learning tools makes her a perfect fit for this leadership role.”
With a strong background in library science and educational technology, Stewart has helped transform the Meadowlark Library into a vibrant learning hub, supporting student reading, digital citizenship, and STEM exploration. In her new role, she will help guide and support school librarians across the district, coordinate KPS library programming, and lead initiatives to strengthen literacy and information access throughout all Kearney schools.
“I’m honored to step into the role of Director of Media for our district,” said Stewart. “I look forward to working alongside stakeholders across the district and collaborating with our exceptional team of school librarians to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning in our students.”
Her dual roles reflect the district’s continued commitment to excellence in library media services while ensuring a seamless transition following Schall’s retirement.
