HASTINGS — We are aware that images and information are being shared on social media regarding law enforcement activity in our community on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Earlier today, law enforcement officers staged near 800 North Burlington Avenue in preparation for deployment to 1500 W. 5th Street.
While we are aware of, and assisted in the ongoing investigation, the Hastings Police Department was not involved in the operation today and does not have any officers assisting on scene.
The primary agency conducting this investigation is the Nebraska State Patrol – Tech Crimes Division. This is a criminal investigation involving crimes against children.
We hope this information helps clarify the situation and dispels inaccurate rumors circulating on social media.
