Officials from the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), alongside Governor Jim Pillen and Hastings Mayor Jay Beckby, will celebrate the beginning of the Hastings Southeast project with a ceremonial groundbreaking on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026 at 9 a.m.
The project will reconstruct approximately 2.38 miles of U.S. Highway 6 (US-6) in Adams County to improve safety, reduce congestion, and address the condition of the existing roadway. Construction is slated to begin as early as spring 2026, with an estimated completion date in summer 2028.
The project is a major infrastructure investment of about $35 million, funded through state and local sources, including the Build Nebraska Act.
