GRAND ISLAND – A 71-year-old Grand Island woman living in south Grand Island reported to Grand Island police that she was the victim of a fraud case for $150,000.
The incident occurred between Nov. 1, 2024, and Nov. 5, 2025.
The case is open and is being investigated.
Grand Island Police Department Division Chief Dean Elliott said that the victim reported that she believed she had been contacted by businessman Elon Musk to make an investment. Police are waiting for the woman to provide documentation in the case.
The woman said that she transmitted money through Bitcom (cryptocurrency). The woman told police she was certain she had contacted Elon Musk through social media.
