The Nebraska State Patrol has released additional details surrounding the Oakland shooting investigation.
On September 27th, Oakland PD and Burt County Sheriff’s responded to reports of a shooting in the 300th block of North Oakland Avenue.
Upon arriving on the scene, officers found 32-year-old Ryan Schuman who was transported to a hospital for a gunshot wound. Schuman later passed away at the hospital.
An investigation revealed that Schuman tried to prevent two people from leaving, a male and a female. Schuman then attacked the woman. The male fired one shot at Schuman to end the attack.
The shooting was ruled to be in self-defense. No arrests have been made in the case, or charges have been filed.
