Hall County Courthouse, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)
GRAND ISLAND — Hall County Commissioners voted 5-2 March 12 to hire a construction manager at risk for the courthouse addition project.
Commissioners Gary Quandt and Karen Bredthauer voted against the motion.
Commissioners received a short update on the project from Steven Severson, an architect with Davis Design in Lincoln.
Severson handed out floor plans for each level of the courthouse and made brief comments about each floor. He said that the drawings have been reviewed by the judges and the sheriff.
In other action March 12, the board:
- *Heard members of the Hall County Attorney’s staff pay tribute to the late Lisa Wooten, who worked in the department.
- *Placed on file the June 20, 2023, Independent Auditor’s Annual Report and Financial Statements.
- *Heard Hall County Election Commissioner Tracy Overstreet give an update on voter identification requirements that will be in place for the upcoming Election Day.
- *Voted 7-0 to approve a conditional use permit for ATC Sequoia Tower.
- *Opened bids for a replacement elevator for the Hall County annex building. They received three bids and referred them to County Facility Director Doone Humphrey to review.
- *Opened one bid received for rural transportation services from Holiday Express. Two people from the Nebraska Mobility Management Team attended the meeting. Commissioners need more information before they can move ahead to form a transportation plan for rural services.
- *Approved a request to paint a mural on the former YWCA building, now owned by the county, at Second and Pine streets.
