The Kearney girls (5-0) remain unblemished on the season after scoring early by Addie Snyder (4′, 24′) off of headers from set plays to push the Bearcats up early. Ellie Salinas (37′) added the third score to put Kearney up 3-0 prior to halftime.
The Bearcats would misplay a long ball into their third, as Briley Haneborg put in a deflected shot (48′) to put up their first goal of the contest. Kearney’s Ashtyn Vancura (72′) scored the final goal of the contest, putting the Bulldogs away for a Bearcat 4-1 victory.
The Bearcat Boys (2-3) were coming off a win Wednesday night from Seacrest Field at Lincoln Northeast earning their first victory of the 2024 season. Kearney’s hot start against North Platte quickly set them ahead of schedule, as Gordy Garner scored an unassisted goal in the opening minute.
The Bearcats’ Colt Straka put up the next two goals, including his 19th minute score to lead at halftime 2-0. A penalty kick in the 55th minute gave Straka his second strike, as North Platte would allow an own goal score (62′) to fall 4-0.
Kearney soccer is back in action next week as the girls travel to Columbus on Tuesday while the boys host the Discoverers at Kearney High School.
