LEXINGTON — The Lexington Police Department arrested a man on attempted murder charges after he attempted to cut another man’s throat with a knife during the afternoon of Tuesday, July 16.

According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to a residential area after a male subjected requested a nearby business call the police.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a 39-year-old man had been assaulted. Officers learned the suspect had fled the area on bicycle and learned his physical description and their first name.

The 39-year-old was transported to Lexington Regional Health Center by the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, the suspect had placed a knife to the throat of the victim and attempted to cut their throat. At the same time the victim placed his hands in front of the knife and received serious injuries to their hand.

While Lexington officers and investigators were processing the scene and speaking with witnesses, the suspect was located and apprehended.

They were later identified as Ebeer Deres Gamolier, believed to be between ages 21 and 23.

Gamolier was booked into the Dawson County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony and terroristic threats.

The incident remains an open investigation and will be conducted by the Lexington Police Department.
