KGFW Sports – Husker Expectations and Testing, State Soccer and More

May 12, 2021 | 5:44 AM

Husker defenders JoJo Domann and Ben Stille are rated in the top 10 nationally among returning players at their positions by Pro Football Focus. The publication ranks JoJo Domann as the 4th best linebacker in the nation. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Domann, who is returning for a sixth season at Nebraska, led the Husker defense last year with 58 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Senior defensive end Ben Stille is ranked as the 8th best returning interior defender. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Stille started all eight games last year for Nebraska at defensive end, recording 27 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

The Nebraska Athletic Department this week is releasing a list of the top performances achieved at the end of the Huskers’ eight-week winter strength and conditioning program. Wide receiver Oliver Martin was tops in the vertical jump at 40 inches. Middle linebacker Chris Kolarevic wasn’t that far behind at 38 inches. Head coach Scott Frost has said he wanted the testing numbers to be made public, like the Huskers used to do during the Osborne era. More results are expected to be released throughout the week.

The top 10 Huskers in the vertical:
– Oliver Martin, 40 inches, 200 pounds
– Chris Kolarevic, 38 inches, 228 pounds
– Isaac Gifford, 37 inches, 207 pounds
