GIBBON — The Gibbon Public Schools board of education has extended the time to fill a vacant position to next week.
The Gibbon board of education held a special meeting on March 5 with its sole discussion item being discussion around the board seat vacated by Michelle Eustler.
According to Nebraska state statute, if a vacancy occurs on the board, it may be filled within 45 days by appointment of a qualified registered voter by the remaining members of the board for the remainder of the unexpired term.
If the board does not fill the vacancy by appointment, the vacancy may be filled by election at a special election or school districting meeting called for that purpose.
